AUTHOR:
Hugh MacIntosh

EBROCHURE DESCRIPTION:
Compiled and written by Hugh MacIntosh during 1902, and published by James Hedderwick & Sons of Glasgow, Scotland, that same year, this historical reference work gives an insight into the reasoning behind the naming of many of Glasgow's streets during the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries, many of which still exist today. As this appears to be the only work of its kind, the intervening years have seen it become arguably the standard reference source for determining the origin of Glasgow’s older street names. Also included is a report taken from an 1857 – 1858 survey, which contains some interesting facts and figures about Glasgow up to that time.
