EBROCHURE DESCRIPTION:
Sisters of Color United for Education (SISTERS) is a grassroots organization founded in 1990 by two Chicana women concerned with the lack of health education and prevention services for women in the Denver community. The founders began their work by providing educational materials out of their cars and hosting discussions in their homes. They focused on providing a safe and supportive environment in which to address sensitive health issues. Over time, Promotora de Salud emerged as the organization's method of service delivery. We train community women, men, and youth to be Health Advocates - Promotores and Promotoras de Salud - to their own neighborhoods and networks.
